Whyteach PDHPE PDHPE is one of the six key learning areas in the primary school curriculum. It covers all areas regarding health ; physical, mental social and spiritual and topics including growth, development, safe living, games , sports, healthy eating and how to lead an active lifestyle.
TheAim of PDHPE • PDHPE encourages young people to take a positive approach to managing their lives and aims to equip them with skills and values for current and future challenges. • It helps develop in young people the capacity to take responsibility for their own learning and promotes the value of physical activity in their lives.
Rationale • Students who are able to draw on knowledge, skills, values and understandings about PDHPE should be able to interact effectively with all areas of the curriculum. • PDHPE curriculum will provide opportunities for students to learn, practise and refine their skills, knowledge and values thus providing a solid foundation for further education and effective participation in society.
