How a Tech Company is Implanting Microchips in Its Employees A technology company known as Three Square Market (32M) is offering Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) microchip technology to all employees.
Some are referring to it as a bible prophecy known as “the mark of the beast” while others are calling it “the future”. 32M employees have the option to implant a microchip between the thumb and forefinger underneath the skin. The Purpose? “Convenience,” they say. “The RFID chip will allow employees to make purchases in the company’s break room market, open doors, login to computers, use copy machines, among other things.” But not even all the money in the world could convince some people. Melissa Timmins, the company’s sales director, was also hesitant. “I’m a little nervous about implanting something into my body,” she said. For those who may be interested in the technology, but not the implant, you can get a wristband or a Smart Ring instead. As far as the concerns surrounding identity theft, Three Square Market had this to say: “The data on the chip is encrypted, like the technology used in credit cards.” They also claim the chip is not trackable by GPS. Is It Safe?
32M says that this chip is not only FDA approved since 2004 but it is also only inserted by licensed professionals and can “easily be removed similar to a splinter”. In rare cases, according to the F.D.A., employees risk infection of the implantation site or the chip moving elsewhere in the body. Additionally, “encrypted” doesn’t necessarily mean unhackable. Also, these microchips may make your life easier today but could ruin it tomorrow. What is used for “convenience” could later be used to track employee work habits, for example.
