X+7=10. You are trying to find the value of x. In this case you have 1 x and 7 ones on the left side and 10 ones on the other side. How to solve one-step addition equations.
Step 2 in solving addition equations Now you have to get the x alone by taking the 7 from the left side away and then equal it out by doing the same on the right.
Step 3 in solving addition equations. • The 7’s you took away from each side balance out. Now then you are left with one x and 3 ones on opposite sides so x equals 3.
Solving one-step subtraction equations • X-3=-2. You are trying to find the value of x. In this case you have 1 x and 3 negatives on the left and 2 negatives on the right.
Step 2 in solving a one-step subtraction equation • Now you have to get the x alone by adding 3 positives to the left side to equal out the negatives and do the same on the right.
Step 3 in solving a one-step subtraction equation • Now you have the x alone with one positive so x=1.
How to solve a one-step multiplication equation • 4x=16. You are trying to find the value of x. In this case you have 4 x’s and are trying to find what times 4=16.
Step 2 in solving the multiplication equation • Now you divide by 4 since 4 is how many x’s you have. 16 divided by 4 is 4 so x=4.
How to solve a two-step linear equation • 6x+3=15. In this case you have 6 x’s and 3 positives on the left and 15 on the right.
Step 2 in solving a 2 step equation • You need to get the x’s alone so take 3 positives from both sides. You are left with 6 x’s on the left and 12 on the right.
Step 3 in solving a 2-step equation • You are left with 12 positives and 6 x’s so you take 12/6 to =2 because the 2’s go evenly into the x’s. You can check if this is right by asking yourself if 6x2+3=15.
