Student Services • If there are concerns regarding student’s progress… • Teachers refer the student to School Planning Team • SPT meets to discuss the best course of action for the student and follow up of that student is on-going
Resource/Learning Center Support • Academics • Organization • Study Skills • Test Completion • Assessment • Remediation • Support for Students on IPP’s • Support for Students on Adaptations if required • In-class Support • Individual Support • Small Group Instruction • Transition planning and team work
Guidance Services • To assist students with problems (academic or personal) that are affecting their performance in school. • To meet with students on an individual basis for counselling on school or peer related concerns. • To act as a contact person with community agencies – Public Health, Social Services, IWK.
Guidance Services • To act as a student advocate with staff and administration. • To assist parents with any school related issue that their child may be experiencing • To oversee student records • Study skills for students needing the support.
Tips for Helping Your Child Become A Successful Student! • Ask to see your child’s agenda book nightly • Set a time and place for school work to be done each day • Look over your child’s work to see if it is neat and complete • Have your child keep an accurate calendar of school activities • Check the school Webpage/Twitter / PowerParent daily
Tips for Helping Your Child Become A Successful Student! • Attend all school functions – Curriculum Night, Parent Teachers (etc) • Find out about homework through the teacher’s website • Call teachers if you have concerns • Organize school materials the night before • Congratulate your child on a job well done!
Extra Curricular • Noon Hour Clubs / Intramurals • Movie Nights • Try out for all sport teams • Student Leadership / Yearbook
Cafeteria • Follows new Food and Nutrition Policy • Menu on our Web Site • Open during recess from 9:30 – 9:40 • 11:45 to 12:25 – Cafeteria Time (gr 6 and 7 students go in for the first 10 minutes before the gr 8 and 9 students)
Library • Open five days per week until 12:30 • New and updated materials each year
PEBS • Positive Effective Behavioural Support • Review of school / class rules • First week of school - expectations • Assemblies / Class rewards / Recognition certificates
