  3. Ephesians 4:1-6 “I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, (2) With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;”

  4. (3) Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (4) There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;”

  5. (5) One Lord, one faith, one baptism, (6) One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”

  6. A Great Church Is Built “One Brick At A Time”

  7. Brick #1 - PURPOSE No Greater Enterprise - Glorify God in Christ • Preach the gospel - evangelism • Teach the saved - edification • Assist the needy – benevolence • Uphold & defend the truth-I Tim.3:15 • Provide the atmosphere where the Christian life can flourish - Eph.4:16 • Build the kind of character God wants –I Peter 2:5,9; Galatians 4:19

  8. Brick #2 - DETERMINATION In spite of the odds against us! • Gideon and his army of 300 against the Midianites - Judges 7 • David against Goliath – I Sam.17 • “For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;” Hebrews 3:14

  9. Brick #3 – UNITY Psalm 133:1-3 “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! (2) It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;”

(3) As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” Scriptural Unity of Brethren Comparison Fragrant aroma of expensive olive oil blended with precious spices. Life giving waters of Mt. Hermon’s dew.

  11. Unity Is Good! For the church! For the world! For the children! For the grownups! For a family! For a team! For a orchestra! Harmony in the church overcomes a lot of obstacles!

  12. Unity Must Be Made! Absent These 7 “Ones” There Is No Unity, Only Union! Unity of organization – one body Unity of purpose – one hope Unity of life – one Spirit Unity of authority – one Lord Unity of teaching – one faith Unity of practice – one baptism Unity of worship – one God

  13. John 17:20-21 “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; (21) That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.”

  21. Since Unity Must Be Made, • Team spirit must be developed. • That means a lot of hard work. • That demands self-sacrifice. “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:” Matthew 12:25

  22. How To Build A Spirit Of Harmony & Teamwork? • There Is The Sense Of Belonging Peripheral, Marginal, Fringe I Corinthians 12 • Those who make things happen. • Those who watch things happen. • Those who never know what happened.

  23. How To Build A Spirit Of Harmony & Teamwork? 2. Recognize the value & power of every member. “effectual working of every part” Ephesians 4:16 a. Unity of belief & doctrine coupled with unity of action. b. Not only is a band member playing, he is playing together with the other members resulting in harmony.

  24. How To Build A Spirit Of Harmony & Teamwork? 3. Shared Vision of Ultimate Victory Dreams that capture the imagination! Enthusiastic challenges! Ambitious plans for advancement! “The whole world follows the man who knows where he is going!” Rom.12:11 Is there anybody following you?

Team Spirit Is Built When Sacrifice & Good Work Are Rewarded With Satisfaction Romans 13:7 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” I Corinthians 15:58
