Introduction • Our selected Kingdom is called Kingdom Protista. • Are a diverse group of eukaryotic microorganisms. • We gonna talk about animal like protista. • Videos of the movement of the organism. • We gonna talk about plant like protista. • It’s made up of cellular life form that have nucleus. • They are grouped together mainly because they do not fit into the other kingdoms.
How they feed? Alondra Negron
How they feed? Protists are single-celled organisms and can feed in a number of ways. Capable of synthesizing its own food through photosynthesis. Obtains energy from organic substances produced by other organisms. Mixotroph: uses a mix of sources of energy. Some protist share characteristics with plants. While other protists share characteristics with fungi. And other protist share characteristics with animals.
Plant-like Protist Jonathan Rodriguez “Euglena”
Plant-like Protist Euglena's an organism that lives in water. They use their chloroplasts for photosynthesis process. Has an eyespot used for sensing light. Their pellicle helps to maintain their shapes. Euglena has a combination of plant and animal. They're green because they eat green algae. Sometimes euglena gracilis eat amoeba and paramecium.
Euglena Chloroplasts in which they perform photosynthesis, and they are also quite capable of eating small bacteria. This little movies illustrates the presence of its flagella and red eyespot; a more highly developed photosensitive area on the body, than its chloroplasts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiZ85y0g3UI
Animal-Like Protist Magdalys Miranda “Amoeba”
Amoeba Common name of the phylum is Amoeba. Scientific name for Phylum: Rhizopoda or Sarcodina. Morphology: Unicellular and not have definite shape. The normal mode of reproduction is Asexual. Habits of Amoeba is freshwater, marine, parasitic. Amoeba is remarkable for the large genome. Amoeba obtains its nutrition in a heterotrophic.
Amoeba Movement of the Amoeba is shown. First the colorless ectoplasma moves in front of the pseodopodia, followed by the grained entoplasma. The video is done with the phase contrast technique. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pR7TNzJ_pA
Animal-Like Protist Magdalys Miranda “Protozoa”
Protozoa Some protozoa are human parasites, causing diseases. Protozoa are unicellular organisms are called animal-like Subsist entirely on other organisms for food. Most protozoa can move on their own. Protozoa remains a problematic area of taxonomy. Some protozoa reproduce sexually and some asexually. Protozoa may absorb food via their cell membranes.
Conclusion • Kingdom Protista describe cellular life form. • They help the process of producing oxygen. • They are the main base of food webs and chains. • They are a major food source. • Are responsible for decomposing and recycling nutrients. • Euglena help to maintain oxygen levels in balance. • Some protists have medicinal and industrial uses.
