  5. January rainfall anomalies appear to be an extension of seasonal anomaly pattern

  6. Feeds into upper Zambezi in W. Zambia

Cahora Bassa and Kariba Dam: Now, both at 4200 m^3/s (Linked to increased outflow upstream from Kariba) • At / Above Alert: • Zambezi (up) • Pungwe (down) • Buzi (up) • Limpopo (up) • Incomati (up) • Maputo (up) • Kavango (down) • Inundation Impacts • Thousands of displaced people in far eastern Caprivi • Highest levels recorded in history (upper Zambezi) • Likely to lead to crop and livestock losses (S. Moz / NE South Africa, and E. Caprivi) • Conditions likely to worsen w/ delayed response to above-average rains.
