  3. Guiding Questions for Lesson 1 Have you ever said something that was misinterpreted by another person? Why are things that we say misunderstood? Have you had someone read an e-mail from you and misunderstand the message? What does the color red mean to you? Do you think it means the same thing in all cultures? How can communication be improved?

Practice: Communicating Through the Web • Find one Web site for each of the following audiences. • Discuss how the ideas in each Web site are communicated to fit the needs of that audience. • A Web site targeted toward small children ages 5–12. • A Web site targeted toward teens ages 13–19. • A Web site targeting a local audience. • A Web site targeting a national audience. • A Web site targeting a worldwide audience.
