  3. Joint movements • Flexion • Extension • Lateral flexion • Abduction • Adduction • Rotation • Circumduction • Hyperextension

  4. FLEXION • The movement in which two body parts with common articulation bend toward each other.

  5. Truck flexion

  6. Elbow flexion

  7. Shoulder flexion

  8. Hip flexion

  9. Ankle flexion or dorsiflexion

  10. Knee flexion

  11. EXTENSION • The movement in which two body parts with common articulation extend away from each other

  12. Trunk extension

  13. Elbow extension

  14. Shoulder extension

  15. Hip extension

  16. Knee extension

  17. Ankle extension or Plantar flexion

  18. LATERAL FLEXION • The lateral movements of the torso and head in the frontal plane.

  19. Lateral neck flexion

  20. Lateral trunck flexion

  21. ABDUCTION (separation) • The lateral movements of the body part away from the vertical axis of the torso.

  22. Hip abduction

  23. Shoulder abduction

  24. ADDUCTION (approximation) • The lateral movement that pulls a body part toward the vertical axis of the torso.

  25. Hip adduction

  26. Shoulder adduction

  27. Rotation • The movement in which a body part turn around its vertical axis.

  28. Hip flexion combined with external rotation of the right hip
