  5. Make the Student Aware of Concerns(Plan A) • Define what is considered aggressive (mild vs. severe) and a cooperative act to go with each • Consistency is key (mild consequence for a mild aggressive behavior)consequence should parallel the behavior • Reinforcing cooperative behavior will reduce aggression • Increase praise of cooperative behavior

  6. Teach Students Skills To Prevent Aggression(Plan B) • Consistent with inappropriate behaviors • Provide students with lessons on being cooperative (create a small group or ask for assistance from an administrator or school counselor) • Role play or review real situations; give “homework” for students to practice skills learned • Reinforce appropriate behaviors3-1 Positive to Negative reinforcement

  7. Collaborating with Outside Resources When Aggression is Intentional (Plan C) • Follow ideas in Plan A and Plan B • Consistency with inappropriate behavior • Modify the student’s day to reduce the chance of severe acts ( i.e. aggression in the cafeteria could be reduced through use of assigned seating) • Evaluation plan

  8. Reducing Aggression with Groups of Aggressive Students (Plan D) • Consistency • Procedures for publicly monitoring of aggression • Set performance goals for the next day • Reinforcement

  9. Steps For Developing a Plan • Enough Information • Focus Intervention • Determine Parent Involvement • Prep for Initial Meeting (neutral time, private, plan idea, descriptions of appropriate and inappropriate behavior) • Regular Feedback • Evaluate the Situation and Plan
