Explore the sacred concept of sanctuary in biblical context, inviting the Lord's presence through purity and faithfulness for a deeper fellowship with Him.
E N D
Sanctuary • A place set aside for worship: tabernacle, temple…a certain part of today’s church buildings. Exo. 25:8 • A place where sacrifices are offered to Jehovah. • It is a most sacred place.
Lord, Prepare Me • If the Lord’s Spirit is to dwell in us, our bodies must be prepared. • We want the Lord to dwell in us that we may have fellowship with Him. • Therefore we humbly ask Him, “Lord, prepare me”… that He may dwell in each of us.
Pure and Holy • God can only dwell in us if we’re pure (without blemish). Heb. 9:11-14 • Because God is holy, and makes us Holy through the blood of Christ…our bodies must be set aside for a holy calling. Heb. 10:10, 14, 19-25
Tried and True • We want our bodies to be a faithfully reliable dwelling place for our Lord. Cp. 2 Co. 6:4-7 • So, we make supplication that the Lord test our faith that we may be found “tried and true” before Him.
With Thanksgiving • The need to be living sanctuaries. Rom. 12:1-2 • Every aspect of our lives will contain the Way of the Lord. Col. 3:16-17
Sanctuary: “For God” • Is your life a sanctuary for the Lord? • If so, glorify Him in your body. • If not, God wants to purchase your body (with the blood of Christ) so you can be a sanctuary that lives to glorify Him. 1 Co. 6:20
