Problem and solution • Identify the problem before you begin discussing the solution. • Show how your solution will solve the problem. • Group the stages of your solution into meaningful categories
Problem and Solution • Give readers ample evidence that your solution will solve the problem. • Use graphics when appropriate to illustrate or clarify the problem or the solution.
Example 1 Hyperpolarized Metabolic Imaging Visualizes ‘Real-Time’ Disease Progress.
Problem Most major diseases are somehow linked to metabolic altercations. But being able to see the changes as they occur and to see if a treatment is working in “real time”. Solution A powerful new imaging technology, called SPINlab, harnesses hyperpolarized Carbon-13 to view metabolic processes in real time. Evidence The h-Py MRI showed a 10,000-fold enhancement in signal-to-noise ratio and allowed the researchers to view metabolic alterations within living human subjects for the first time.
Use Graphics Graphs are used to show how fast polarization occurs. Mainly directed towards internal technical readers.
Example 2Protect Your Pets the Betty White Way – Home Again Pet Microchips
Identify the Problem before you begin discussing the solution.
Show how your solution will solve the problem and group the stages of your solution.
Give readers ample evidence that your solution will solve the problem.
Use graphics when appropriate to illustrate or clarify the problem or the solution.
Conclusion Those were examples of good use of problem and solution pattern. Starting with identifying the problem before giving your solution. Continue with explaining how your solution solve the problem and how it works. And end with giving the readers evidence for the effectiveness of your solution. Try to use illustrations and graphics in writing. It would help to convey your message.
