  5. Compensation and Position Management Position Authorization Requests (PAR) may not be entered until you receive the compensation classification letter. PARs are required for the following: Generate a new PCN (Position Control Number) Activate a vacant position Reclassify a vacant position Correct budget for position Establish FTE and standard hours If Business Operations manages your transactional needs contact them to enter the PAR. Applications Hiring Process How to Review and Screen Applicants: • Ensure applicants meet* all the minimum requirements (candidates who do not meet minimum requirements cannot be considered) • Ensure the work experience is directly related*to the duties in the job ad • Review both application and resume • * If in doubt, please ask your employment representatives • Rate your candidates in three groups: • A – Exceeds minimum requirements and has preferred qualifications • B – Meets minimum requirements • C – Does not meet minimum requirements

Minimum Requirements Example Provide pre and post-surgical care for USDA and non USDA animal species.  Maintenance of USDA required clinical records, monitoring of vital signs, and Administration of medication to animal species Hiring Process Candidate #1 EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in Physiology – University of Louisville EXPERIENCE: Lab Research Tech IV Bachelor's degree in Biology, Anatomy, Chemistry, or related field and two years of experience. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. Major duties include: Physical Therapy Tech - (2016-present) Personal Trainer - (2015-2016) Wellness Coach - (2014-2015) Veterinary Technician - (2012-2015)

  12. Minimum Requirements Example Lab Research Tech IV Bachelor's degree in Biology, Anatomy, Chemistry, or related field and two years of experience.   13. Discussion Hiring Process Which candidate meets the minimum requirements of the position? Interview Tips Hiring Process Ask same questions to all candidates who interview Keep all questions job-related Avoid illegal questions Document questions and answers Do not make inappropriate comments on your notes (subject to open records) Keep recruitment files and interview documents for 3 years then destroy

  15. Updating Candidate Status As you review applications enter dispositions on those that do not meet the minimum qualifications A disposition reason must be entered for each candidate Interview details must be entered for each candidate interviewed (highest level) Hiring Process

  16. Offer Panel Comments, Comments, Comments!!! Job offers must include specific job-related information as to why the applicant is the preferred candidate Describe how the preferred candidate meets the minimum requirements (a statement saying, “meets minimum requirements” is not acceptable) List any preferred qualification/experiences Hiring Process • If Business Operations manages your departmental transactional needs contact them to enter the offer and update the offer panels
