3. Definition of Resilience Resilience is the positive capacity of people to cope with stress and adversity. It is also used to indicate a characteristic of resistance to future negative events. Commonly used terms would be: “psychological resilience”, “emotional resilience”, “hardiness”, resourcefulness” and “inner strength”.
