2. Importance of HBCU apparel in present society “HBCU” stand for “Historically Black College and/or University”. The name conveys a few facts about the connected schools. These schools were established with the prime purpose of serving the African American community before the Civil Rights Movement. Most HBCUs—more than hundred schools in total—were established subsequent to the American Civil War. Post Congress passed the Second Morrill Act of 1890, states who did not have incorporated land grant colleges and universities had to set up land grant schools for black students.

SBC was established in 2012 by couple of Howard University students who saw a necessity to spread alertness about the school that changed their lives. The brand took off fast when celebrities, for instance, Missy Elliot, Teyanna Taylor, Eva Marcille, Chris Paul and many more have been founded rocking the brand. Every year the SBC team recruits more than 70 colleges and & offers thousands of dollars in scholarships.
