Three Types of Credentials Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC) - 8 weeks to 1 year Electrical Lineworker Healthcare Science Commercial Truck Driving Professional Diploma – Usually 1 to 1 ½ years Welding and Joining Automotive Technology Practical Nursing Applied Associate of Science Degree (AAS) -Usually 2 years Criminal Justice Culinary Arts Photography

  5. Hope scholarship vs. hope Grant HOPE Scholarship • Pays for Associate Degrees (NGTC) and Bachelor Degrees (not at NGTC). HOPE Grant • Pays for TCC and Diploma programs.

  6. College Credit Now Earn high school credit and college credit at the same time. Dual Enrollment HOPE Grant Accel Program Joint Enrollment (College Credit Only)

  7. COLLEGE CREDIT NOW Dual Enrollment Paid by HOPE Grant • Only occupational courses may be taken under Dual Enrollment/HOPE Grant. • TCC or Diploma Courses

  9. College credit now Dual Enrollment • Does not count against HOPE hour cap. • HOPE Grant pays approx. 70% of tuition. • Remaining tuition and fees are covered by NGTC. • Books are provided by NGTC through a Lending Library.

  12. College Credit Now Accel • Does not count against HOPE hour cap. • Accel pays 100% tuition. • NGTC covers fees and provides books through Lending Library. • Can take up to 4 classes (15 credit hours) per semester.

  14. College credit now Joint Enrollment Paid by HOPE Grant • TCC or Diploma Courses only • Earn ONLY college credit by taking courses in the evening or online. • Students must complete high school before graduating from NGTC.

Admission requirements Students must be: • At least 16 years old (requirements depend on program) • Enrolled in an eligible high school • Classified as a junior or senior • Submit an application (paper) – No $15 application fee 2. Submit Dual Enrollment applications (2 applications) 3. Provide official high school/GED transcript 4. Take a placement test (Program Ready scores) COMPASS or ASSET with NGTC or acceptable ACT or SAT scores

  17. Compass or Asset Tests Used to determine Reading, Writing & Math skills • COMPASS is computerized & not timed • ASSET is pencil/paper & timed • ACT orSAT scores may be used
