Purpose + Engagement = Learning The Center for 21st Center Skills uses rigorous, standards based blended learning courses and virtual learning tools to challenge and engage student learners from grades 7-12. Recognized and funded by the National Science Foundation (ATE/iTEST) and the US Department of Education (i3) we serve over 1,500 students a year through our Digital Arts and Sciences Academy. Anchored by our six critical 21st century skills, our mission is to prepare students for school, work, and life. Virtual Summit

GST BOCES / Hornell CSD Alternative Placement Academy Student Population: • At-risk 7th, 8th and 9th grade students • Excessive absences • Social and emotional issues • Behavior issues • Bullied • At risk of dropping out Program Design: • Student centered (personalized learning environment) • Blended model of instruction • Student teacher ratio – 14:1 • Full day (i.e. phys ed, art, lunch)

GST BOCES Advanced Academics Virtual High School Student Performance Data Summers of 2008, 2009 and 2010: • 233 online registrations; 204 completers (87.55%) • 175 of the 204 passed (85.57%) • Currently in 2010-11 school year there are 103 students taking 173 courses • For summer school 2011, we are anticipating 150 students taking 300 courses
