What is the message? • Guidelines are going to be developed at Global Consultation on Xpert MTB/RIF (November 2010- Geneva) based on WHO STAG recommendations: • Strong “positive” recommendation to use Xpert MTB/RIF to diagnose TB • Strong “negative” recommendation that commercial serological tests should not be used for TB diagnosis • Strong “negative” recommendation that IGRAs should not be used for TB diagnosis in high TB/HIV settings • Is there a role for INAT in disseminating the negative recommendations?
Who are our targets? • NTPs (National to district level) • Other public sector programs (eg. NACP, MCH) • Public sector healthcare workers in TB programs • Public sector healthcare workers from other disease areas (eg. HIV, MCH) • Private sector healthcare providers • Civil society organizations (eg. ITPC, TAC) • Community members/patients/activists (eg. Ukranian Network of PLWHA) • Funding mechanisms (eg. CCMs, UNITAID) • Regulatory authorities (eg. MCC, African Medicines Regulatory Harmonization) • Who else?
Where can we share INAT activities? • Childhood TB (March 2011 - Stockholm) • Kenya TB Conference (Nairobi) • South African TB Conference • Regional IUATLDs • Regional IAS meetings (i.e ICASA -Dec ‘11) • Regional NTP meetings • Others?
How can we raise profile of INAT among partners? • Presentations to WGs and CB explaining INAT and how INAT can support dissemination and advocacy • Letters to NTPs and implementing partners about INAT activities • Posting and disseminating WG meeting reports on INAT website
