  15. Where do we go from here? Adding Value = year’s slogan We want to keep growing personally and we want to make others’ lives better too

  16. Goals for this year • Increase from 36% to 70% of all 4th graders scoring satisfactory or higher on the composition portion of the STAAR writing test • Increase from 44% to 75% of special populations passing all subjects on STAAR • 95% of RTI students showing growth on data charts

  17. Goals cont. • 60% response to parent and/or student surveys each nine weeks • Implement streamlined communication portals for parents by the start of school that are routinely updated

  18. K-5 Specifics Specials classes for a 9 weeks at a time • PE, Music, Art, Computer • Sustained growth and relationship with teacher, easier to remember the schedule Structured Recess New Math text – Pearson enVision Math

  19. MS Specifics • A/B Block schedule • Required courses vs. electives • 7th graders have more options because they have less requireds • New Math text – Carnegie Learning • Working on some extracurricular academic and athletic options

  21. Drop-Off and Pick-Up • Remember safety is the priority! • Drive slowly (20 mph) • NO cell phone usage at all • Do NOT pass • Keep the car sign up on the driver’s side until the child is loaded • Please don’t line up too early

Attendance – pgs 12-16 For absences: must send a signed note within 3 days to determine if it is excused (phone calls don’t count, emails can) K-5 attendance is taken once in the morning MS attendance is taken every period For tardies: 1 = warning, 2 = call from teacher, 3 = 15 minute after school detention (restarts each 9 weeks) Automated School Messenger system – will call you even if you have contacted us • Please listen to messages before calling back

  23. Attendance cont. Truancy: will be filed if a student is (unexcused) absent for 3 or more days or parts of days within a 4 week period, or is (unexcused) absent for 10 or more days or parts of days within a 6 month period Regardless of excused or unexcused, students must be in attendance for 90% of the year to receive credit If students are not in attendance by the 2nd day of school they will vacate their space

Uniform Code – pgs 17-18 Basic look = K-5: navy or khaki bottoms with a white or navy shirt MS: same but with the addition of hunter green embroidered logos are optional Close-toed, close-heeled shoes predominantly a uniform or neutral color with white, navy or neutral shoelaces Nothing embellished or overly distracting

Illness/Medicine – pgs 28-30 Please don’t send your child to school sick or contagious • must be fever free without meds for 24 hours Make sure the office has your current information at all times – allergy/asthma form, permission to give medicine and contact information Any medicine sent with the child should be in the original container

  26. Catering Program Signature Services Anne Rogers at 214.353.2661 You can order as many days as you want for each upcoming month Watch out for class field trip days! For Emergencies: If your child ever doesn’t have a lunch, they can get food from the caterer and Signature Services will bill you.

  27. Paperwork and Fees Please make sure you have turned everything in to the office and paid your school supply fee; the fee is due by October 31st Don’t forget about My Payments Plus for forms and fees

  28. Parent Program – pgs 65-66 Every parent should have a punch card Ask every parent to earn 10 punches/semester • Bring to school events to get punched • 1 punch for tonight • Child turns in when complete to get a reward and you can get another
