  1. theme:Romeo and Juliet By James Dixon

  2. theme • Theme is the central idea of literature • It must be expressed in at lest one complete sentence. • It is not directly stated in a work of literature and the Reader must think about all the elements of the work and use them to make an inference.

  3. My theme • Theme: Love will make a person do anything • I choose this theme because it relates to many situations in Romeo and Juliet and also relates to real people because there are many people in the world that will do anything to be with the one they love even if it means becoming something the person they love doesn't recognize anymore. • Also, because there are many situations where someone’s actions can be influenced by love. In Romeo and Juliet’s case, Romeo drinking the poison and killing himself to be with Juliet, Juliet faking her death to escape her marriage to Paris and run away with Romeo, and Juliet stabbing and killing herself to be with Romeo after seeing him dead.

  4. evidence • 1. Romeo killing Tybalt in order to be alive and be with Juliet, but also shows that Romeo is willing to risk his own life to be with Juliet. • “ Either thou or I, or both must go with him.” • 2. Juliet taking the potion, risking death, to be with Romeo. • “ Romeo, Romeo, Romeo, I drink to thee.” • 3. Thinking she is dead, Romeo drinks the potion to be with Juliet. • “Here’s to my love! (Drinks)” • 4. Juliet takes the dagger and stabs and kills herself to be with Romeo. • “Yea, noise? Then I’ll be brief. O happy dagger!” • “This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die.”
