  1. EDEL 624Fall 2009 Welcome to EDEL 624 Fall 2009

  2. Here is some information to help explain EDEL 624. • The course is primarily on-line. The content and most assignments will be delivered through the University’s content management software called WebCT/Blackboard. There will also be communication, assignments and interactions through the University’s application called Breeze/Connect. Neither of these are applications need to be purchased. They are available on-line BUT you must have your valid username from Radford University (e-mail name and password) to access these applications. EDEL 624 Fall 2009

  3. There are two sections of the course. One is in Henry County (Bassett High School Room 65 and one is a campus section at Peters Hall C145). • Each of the sections will be made up with new students to our traditional program, new students to our new on-line program and returning students to our traditional program. 4. There will be several orientation sessions held for this course. The first one is August 31st on campus in Peters Hall C145; the second one is September 3rd at Bassett High School Room 65. There will be follow-up sessions held on September 7th in Peters Hall (C145) and September 10th at Bassett High School (Room 65). There will also be an on-line orientation session held on Wednesday, September 2nd. Each of the sessions will begin at 6:30 PM. The link for that on-line session will be e-mailed to you later this week. EDEL 624 Fall 2009

  5. If you have NOT worked with RU’s WebCT/Blackboard and Breeze Connect, it is strongly suggested that you attend one of the face-to-face orientation sessions. You are REQUIRED to attend ONE of the orientation sessions to successfully participate in the course. It may be a face-to-face meeting or the on-line meeting. If you have not used RU’s on-line applications previously, again I would recommend attending one of the face-to-face meetings. EDEL 624 Fall 2009

  6. If you do not have a G-Mail Account (Google), please try to establish one prior to the start of the course. I will review G-Mail with you during the orientation session if you are unfamiliar with it. Your Google account will be useful to you as we learn about a number of Web 2.0 Applications. 7. Attached to the e-mail you received you will find a link to a course “fact” verification form that you need to complete by noon Friday, September 4th. The purpose of this form is to verify your participation in this course. Not completing this on-line verification form could cause you to be deleted from the class. EDEL 624 Fall 2009
