What is Biodegradation? - A chemical breakdown of a material into basic components of carbon dioxide and water • Readily Biodegradable- rapid and complete mineralization of naturally occurring bio-based products, commonly known as vegetable oils • Inherently Biodegradable - Products that degrade eventually, but not in a specific timeframe.   13. Emissions • Diesel exhaust is a mixture of many gases, vapors and solid particles. Most of the components of diesel exhaust cause health problems. In the last ten years, a number of animal and human studies have shown that diesel exhaust can cause lung cancer. • There are a number of ways to reduce emissions. No one strategy is foolproof. Some strategies only reduce one or two of these components of diesel emissions. Some strategies reduce certain emissions, but increase others. All of the strategies will require the company to spend money. They also require vigilance. Our health is worth it.
