Introduction Intro to Computers is a beginner level class that helps the student to better understand basic computer history, appreciate the effects of information technology on people and our environment, and improve skills needed to function in today’s high-tech society. My Intro to Computers experience helped refine the skills I already possessed. I was able to learn about what makes a computer, along with other technological machines, work. Most importantly, Intro to Computers prepared me for the next level in computing courses. Intro to Computers is a terrific entry level course. The course does a good job covering a broad range of topics and helping a student really understand computers. Back to Table of Contents
Microsoft Word Microsoft Word is a very easy, yet important, program to master. Concepts learned out of this text were creating, enhancing, and adding special elements to a word document. Microsoft Excel An Excel worksheet is an electronic grid consisting of rows and columns that performs numeric calculations. Excel is a great program for to keep track of orders in a business. Microsoft Access Microsoft Access is used in making databases. A database is a collection of information organized in columns and rows and stored electronically in a file. A database is good for keeping sales and financial records for a business or even a list of school friends and associates. Microsoft PowerPoint Microsoft PowerPoint is a great program for making professional looking presentations. Presentations bring together text and graphics on pages called slides. About the Author Justin Sanders is a freshman at Rend Lake College. He is currently earning credits towards an Associates in Science Degree. After earning his Associates he plans to transfer to Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville. At SIU-E he plans to complete graduate school with a degree in Psychology.
