  6. Homework Children will receive a piece of maths and a piece of English homework each week on a Tuesday. This homework needs to be completed and returned by the following Monday. Any homework not completed will be completed during homework club on a Monday lunch time. Children who return their homework on time will earn Dojo points.

  7. Reading It is really important that children read at home and change their book regularly. Please just write the pages read and if the book is finished so books can be changed when necessary. Children need to put their books in the basket as soon as they come into school so they can be changed during the day. If they don’t get put in until after lunch or at the end of the day we may not have the chance to change it. Children who read at home and change their books regularly will earn Dojo points.

  8. Spellings Children in year 4 need to be secure and confident when reading and spelling the words from the statutory year 3 and 4 word list. This word list can be found on the class page on the school website and I have also stuck a copy in the front of each child's English homework book. Children will also learn spellings in patterns and groups and these lists will form part of the English homework.

  9. Times tables By the end of year 4 children should know all multiplication and division facts up to 12 x 12. So 6 x 5 = 30 30 ÷ 5 = 6 30 ÷ 6 = 5 We will complete a 90 second tables test daily where children have to correctly answer 24 questions. Children who complete these tests get a star added to the chart in class and also receive a certificate.
