FOURTH GRADE ROUTINES: • GO HOME EVERY NIGHT: - HW folders (Ketchum and Melton) - binders (HW kept in HW tab - Highley) - HW agenda should be signed by teacher and parent EVERY night • Monday folders • nightly reading logs • 50-60 minutes of homework each night • Morning Meeting • clubs (will change quarterly)
BEHAVIOR and DISCIPLINE: • SOAR expectations • rewards and consequences - tickets, punch cards, group rewards, and classroom prize boxes - Student of the Week (by classroom) - SOARing Students (quarterly celebration) • restricted items: - cell phones - toys - skateboards - gaming devices - iPods, mp3 players, etc. - weapons (even toys) - candy, gum, soda, etc.
VOLUNTEERS Please register in the media center! You must have your driver’s license with you. INTERESTED IN BEING A ROOM PARENT? Please let your child’s teacher know ASAP!
EOG TESTING: • EOG testing window: May 20 - June 6 • results will not be available until October 2013 • no retests • WE NEED PROCTORS! jscott1@wcpss.net
CURRICULUM “BIG IDEAS”: READING • Daily 5 (read to self, read to buddy, listen to a story, work on writing, and word work) • reading notebooks • “just right” books • small groups/guided reading • daily access to media center
