Introduction • The plan provides for:- • The drafting of SAPS specific training and communication content; • Implementation of a training programme in preparation for the implementation of the legislation and to ensure and sustain correct implementation after the implementation date; and • Implementation of internal and external communication plans in support of implementation to raise awareness and reinforce or complement training initiatives. • Use of baseline allocation of Divisions
Development of content for training and communication purposes
Implementation Approach for Human Resource Development implementation plan • Briefing of Legal Services senior officials and Vispol Heads as resource personnel (to provide guidance to operational members and field trainers) • Development of a training module on the Dangerous Weapons Bill • Incorporate the new training module into Learning Area 2 of the Basic Police Development Programme • Incorporate the training module into all tactical related training interventions ( In-Service Police Development and Management and Leadership Development) • Rollout to all station members via the Field Training structure
Budgeting for implementation • The implementation plan will be funded from the baseline allocations of the Divisions Visible Policing and Human Resource Development and a specific allocation for this purpose to the Corporate Communication Component: • Human Resources Development R 665 000 • Visible Policing R 450 000 • Corporate Communication R 781 000 • Total: R1 896 000
