INTRODUCING ENGINEERING TO FENWAY HIGH SCHOOL GEORGE PAPAYANNIS SCIENCE TEACHER, FENWAY HIGH SCHOOL Implementation PLAn STUDENT BENEFITS Project objective To prepare those students who dream of becoming engineers to successfully complete engineering majors in college. Project background This project seeks to help transform the conversations happening at Fenway High School. We are a non-exam, non-tracked, non-themed high school in a major city that has a strong humanities program with room to grow its STEM programming. We want to become a model school where students who have economic hardship and who are often the first in their families to go to college can be prepared to succeed in challenging technical majors that have historically been out of their reach. We believe the political and corporate will to prepare our students makes now the time to introduce these changes. alumni feedback "We have so much in the medical, robotics, design, and tech spaces here in Boston that it would be a complete waste to not expose students to them (senior year, many students who asked what schools I had applied to didn't know what MIT was, even when I said it in it's entirety).” - Fenway alumna
