Creating a Collaborative Faculty Resource Wendy Pate Associate Director WebCampus Stevens Institute of Technology 201-216-5015
What I would like to share…. • Bi-annual faculty colloquium • What makes a successful colloquium • Past colloquium topics • Faculty Resources E-learning Community • Technology training • Idea Exchange through discussions • Instant Idea Exchange • Keep up the momentum
What makes a successful colloquium • Secure a “good” day and time • Location, location, location • Bribe them with food (if necessary) • Use internal and external presenters • Have relevant topics • ALWAYS request feedback
Past Colloquium Topics • Online Communication–Creating that classroom feeling • Successfully using the WebCT Discussion Board and Chat Rooms • Virtual Teams at Stevens • The Howe School - Evolution of a successful online program • Stevens Institute of Technology plagiarism in online courses instructions and discussion • How Technology Integrates Online, On-Campus and International Courses • Using Interwise in the virtual classroom
Momentum….. • Have a schedule so it is expected – (bi-annually worked for Stevens) • Ask your professors to participate – (they love to be subject matter experts) • Build an attendance requirement into your contract • Use the online technology for information dissemination!
