Renton School District Network 10G primary and 1G secondary owned fiber to nearly all 29 buildings in district Backup reserve fiber strands to each 1.5mile wireless link to non-district building 1G copper to every workstation Wireless in all instructional spaces: 3-stream, dual-radio 802.11a/b/g/n, 900 Mbps

Join a fiber consortium – most are free Learn from consortium members Pass Tech Bond/Levy Partner with geographically overlapping consortium members Identify possible common fiber routes Get quotes for installation Create project agreement and scope Run more fiber than you need today Light it up!
  4. Fiber Consortiums Counties, Cities, Emergency Response, Law Enforcement, Utility Districts, Hospitals, Libraries, School Districts, Government Agencies, and Universities have created beneficial partnerships Partnerships formed using interlocal agreements
  5. Interlocal Agreement (ILA) RCW 39.34 permits a local government to enter into interlocal agreements with other public agencies in the interest of cooperatively sharing resources for their mutual benefit. Save tax payer dollars while serving common constituents Create infeasible infrastructure when done together Have conversations and plan for opportunities that could only be dreamed about just a few years ago What resources could you provide to your students and teachers with 10Gig fiber to every building and minimal monthly costs? How about 40Gig fiber?
  12. What is next for RSD? Redundant, geographically-diverse, low-cost, high-speed internet connections to each building As everything shifts to cloud/web based, the network is key Possible co-location hosting opportunities Have conversations and plan for opportunities that could only be dreamed about just a few years ago Light up additional fiber strands to all buildings as needed Possible opportunities to expand city-wide free Wi-Fi and public safety Wi-Fi network
