  2. Intro to the K-Family • Over the years, Kiwanis membership has grown and enthusiasm for its service-based format has spread; in response, Kiwanis has created additional volunteer opportunities for people at every stage of life through its sponsored programs, dedicated to one common mission.

  3. What are the branches? • K-Kids (Elementary School students) • Builders Club (Middle School students) • Key Club (High School students) • Circle K International (College students) • Aktion Club (Adults with disabilities) • Kiwanis International (Parent organization)

  4. Builder’s Club Basics • The original concept of Builders Club (known as Young Builders in the 1930s) was to provide a guidance program to combat disruptive behavior at the junior high and middle school level. • From this evolved the idea of a service organization to develop leadership skills in junior high/middle school students interested in making a personal contribution to their home, school, and community. • Today, Builders Clubs exist in more than 1300 schools and community locations, primarily in the United States, but are growing rapidly in other major countries worldwide.

  5. Find a site (could be school or community based) Secure a Sponsoring Kiwanis club, Circle K Club or Key Club. Secure a faculty advisor. Collect at least 15 members to start off (recommended) Organize and Charter the Builder’s Club. Launch the Builder’s Club This is only an outline of the process of chartering a Builder’s Club. For the full process and resources, please visit http://www.buildersclub.org

With clubs on more than 550 campuses globally, programming is based upon the tenets of service, leadership, and fellowship. • Circle K blends community service and leadership training with the opportunity to meet many other college students at service projects, conferences, and conventions and form genuine lifelong friendships with people of all walks of life.
