  2. THEINTRODUCTION • DISPLAY PARACHUTING IS THE PRESENTATION OF THE ARMY AND FREE FALL PARACHUTING TO THE PUBLIC.

  3. REMEMBER: • THE PUBLIC WILL JUDGE YOU BY THE PERFORMANCE GIVEN • AN UNPROFESSIONAL DISPLAY WILL PROJECT A BAD IMAGE OF THE ARMY AND PARACHUTING TO THE PUBLIC • THEREFORE - YOU MUST PLAN AND EXECUTE YOUR DISPLAY TO THE HIGHEST OF STANDARDS

  4. THE TEAM: • THE TEAM MUST COMPLY WITH SECT. 13 OF THE BPA OPERATIONS MANUAL • THE TEAM MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE FOLLOWING: • BPA (FORM 120) • CAA P&E (CA 2237 • APA

  5. TEAM MEMBERS: • TEAM LEADER : • MUST BE RECOMMENDED BY A CCI OR AN ADVANCED INSTRUCTOR, WHO IS A CURRENT TEAM LEADER

  6. MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 300 DESCENTS AND 30 DISPLAY DESCENTS • HAVE PASSED A WRITTEN EXAM ON DISPLAY PROCEDURES AND FLYING OPERATIONS SET BY THE NCSO OR TECHNICAL OFFICER OF THE BPA

  7. THE TEAM LEADER IS TO ENSURE THE BPA OP’S MANUAL IS AT HAND FOR ALL TEAM MEMBERS • THE TEAM LEADER MAY ALSO NOMINATE AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO QUALIFIED TEAM MEMBERS

  8. JUMP MASTER : • MUST BE FAI “C” CERTIFICATE (RED) WITH 300 DESCENTS & 20 DISPLAY DESCENTS • MUST BE AWARE OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF A DISPLAY TEAM JM AND THE TEAM LEADER IS TO ENDORSED THEIR LOG BOOK

  9. FAI “C” CERTIFICATE (RED) HOLDERS : • MUST COMPLETE 5 CONSECUTIVE, PREDECLARED SIMULATED DISPLAY DESCENTS AND LAND WITHIN 5M OF THE TARGET AND NO CLOSER THAN 15M TO THE EDGE OF THE ARENA

  10. THE PLA MUST BE NO LESS THAN 5000 sqms WITH A MINIMUM WIDTH OF 50m • MUST BE FREE FROM MAJOR HAZARDS AND NO MORE THAN 10% MINOR HAZARDS

  11. THE MINIMUM OPENING HEIGHT IS 1500ft AGL • ( NIGHT DISPLAYS ) MAY ONLY BE CARRIED OUT BY MEMBERS OF THE TEAM WITH 500 DESCENTS OR MORE • CF MAY ONLY BE CARRIED OUT BY ( CF 1 ) HOLDERS AND THE WRITTEN PERMISSION OF THE TEAM LEADER

  12. FAI “B” CERTIFICATE ( RED ) • MUST COMPLETE 5 PREDECLARED, CONSECUTIVE SIMULATED DISPLAY DESCENTS LANDING NO LESS THAN 10m FROM THE TARGET • THIS MUST BE ENDORSED IN THIER LOG BOOKS BY THE CCI OR AN ADVANCED INSTRUCTOR

  13. MUST BE NO LESS THAN 20000sqms WITH A MINIMUM WIDTH OF 100m, FREE FROM MAJOR HAZARDS AND NO MORE THAN 5% MINOR HAZARDS • MUST NOT LAND WITHIN 30m OF THE EDGE THE ARENA ADEQUATE OVERSHOOTS MUST BE ON 3 SIDES

  14. DEMO DZ CONTROL : • THE DZ CONTROLLER MUST BE A BPA MEMBER AND HOLD A FAI (B) CERTIFICATE (RED) • THEY MUST UNDERSTAND THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF A DZ CONTROLLER

  15. THEY MUST ALSO KNOW THE FOLLOWING : • GROUND TO AIR SIGNALS • A METHOD TO JUDGE THE WIND SPEED & DIRECTION • ACCESS TO FIRST AID EQUIPMENT & THE EMERGENCY SERVICES

  16. CURRENCY : • THE TEAM LEADER IS RESPONSIBLE TO ENSURE ALL TEAM MEMBERS ARE CURRENT, PRIOR TO A DISPLAY • ALL DISPLAY PARACHUTISTS MUST HAVE CARRIED OUT AT LEAST 60 DESCENTS IN THE 2 YEARS PRIOR TO THE DISPLAY

  17. FIVE OF THESE DESCENTS MUST HAVE BEEN WITHIN 3 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE DISPLAY

  19. TYPES OF DISPLAY : • HIGH SHOW - NOT ABOVE 8000 ft AGL • MEDIUM SHOW- ABOUT 5000ft AGL • LOW SHOW - BELOW 3500ft AGL

  20. SEQUENTIAL F.S : • THE CROWD WILL FIND IT DIFFICULT TO APPRECIATE F.S ( HOW EVER THE USE OF SMOKE DOES MUCH TO ENHANCE A DISPLAY)

  21. CF FORMATIONS : • LARGE FORMATIONS TEND TO BE A BIT SLOW FOR THE CROWDS • HOWEVER 2/3 STACKS WITH PLENTY OF SPIRALS AND SMOKE WITH APOSSIBLE DOWN PLANE DOES APPEAL TO THE CROWD • THIS WITH SINGLE CANOPIES, SMOKE AND FLAGS DOES APPEAL TO THE CROWD

  22. POINTS TO NOTE ! • DO NOT TAKE ANY RISKS WHICH WILL ENDANGER YOU OR THE PUBLIC • BE AWARE OF THE AFFECTS OF TURBULENCE • SORT THE STACK ORDER OUT QUICKLY TO PREVENT TRAFFIC PROBLEMS • NEVER CROSS THE (BASE LINE)

  26. TO SUMMARISE • THOROUGH PLANNING & PREPARATION WILL ENSURE DISPLAY TEAMS WILL PROJECT A PROFFESSIONAL IMAGE OF OUR SPORT • REMEMBER THE DISPLAY IS FOR THE PUBLIC NOT THE JUMPER
