Our Objective • Improve social media presence • Educate and work with FLW staff • Increase flow of information from organization
Exposing the Problem • Initial meeting with FLW staff prompted a survey
Now What? • Divided into two separate groups • Brainstormed specific ways we could increase the social presence of FLW. • Develop new mission: • Showcase interconnectivity of social media platforms • Advertise employment pointers and income opportunities
Flow of Information • Goal: Interconnect each platform to share information to clientele. • Created: • Mock Wordpress • Mock Twitter • Mock Facebook
Pecking Order • Wordpress: The primary source • Blog format • Information in bulk • Reliable sources • Twitter and Facebook: Social distributors (relaying information) • Passes on via tweets/Facebook shares + likes • “Domino effect”
Tips Shared • Interviewing points • Resumé workshops • Basic professionalism • Local job listings • Job growth rates • Testimonies from job seekers • Local training programs/ vocational schools • Tips on how to be successful
Challenges • How to communicate with staff without being insensitive. • Talking about mediums of digital space • Respect our position as students/volunteers rather than employees • Knowing where the line is. • Government shutdown • Service requirements • Lack of communication/ instruction
Reflection • Ambiguity of assignment allowed for development of leadership and problem solving skills. • In the beginning, it was hard meeting with everyone. • Split of the group assisted in achieving goal of assignment • Professional experience • Used Nayar’s advice to advise FLW staff in a professional manner.
