  1. The basic unit of live. THE CELL That it is capable of surviving by itself, every organism on the planet is formed by cells, and it has genetic material (hereditary information) that is passed from generation to generation. What does this mean? Homework: bring a readingreportofthecelltheory

  2. THE CELL • Cells are mainly formed of water, but present in their structure are proteins, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids (DNA). • There are two types of cells: • The Prokaryotic cell and the Eukaryotic cell • ¿¿The difference?? • What about unicellular and multicellular organisms?

  5. THE CELL Activity • In groups of two: • Make a parallel between the prokaryotic cell and the eukaryotic cell • Make a parallel between the animal cell and the plant cell.

THE CELL Organelles • In base groups: • Each member of the group brings information of the organelles: Cytoplasm, Cytoskeleton, Golgi Apparatus, Endoplasmic Reticulum, Mitochondria, Vacuole, Lysosomes, Chloroplasts, Ribosomes. • Discuss about how those organelles and structures influence the function of the cells. • Present the conclusions of the discussion.

  10. THE CELL Organelles • Golgi Apparatus (or Golgi bodies): they sort or classify proteins and put them in vesicles. Where do these vesicles go? • Cytoskeleton: it gives shape and structure to the cell. It also holds all the organelles within the cell.
