  3. Frequently, the sentence base will have not only a subject and verb, but also a completer, or complement. • A complement completes the meaning started by the subject and verb. Complements

  4. The complement may be a noun, pronoun or adjective. • The complement is never in a prepositional phrase. Complements

  5. Add words to complete the meaning, to make the sentences make sense. • The stew tastes • She always was • I told • We went • They will play Practice

  6. Label the Subject, Verb, and Complement of each sentence, don’t forget the rules! • The dog chased us. • The servers at that restaurant are professional. • My income taxes will be quite high. • Margot might become a writer. • Those windstorms caused extensive damage. • Now she watched from the bandstands.
