Survivor Centric Approach • Disaster Survivor Assistance Program • Specialist cadre designed to assess survivor needs, speed registration process and disaster assistance • FEMA Corps • 1,600 members nationwide on 10-month tour-of-duty. • Work directly with survivors, support Disaster Recovery Centers • Inspire young people towards careers in emergency management

Role of Critical Infrastructure • 85% of the nation’s critical infrastructure is owned by the private sector • Some infrastructure is nearing the end of its life-cycle and will require investment to prevent a crisis • Aging infrastructure can hamper response and recovery efforts by delaying responders • Loss of a sector could have far reaching primary and cascading effects

Non-Stafford Act Recovery Guide • Key Points • Not all local disasters meet the criteria for federal disaster assistance • Brings together state, not-for-profit agencies, other federal agencies to use non-federal disaster funding mechanisms • Identify opportunities to re-prioritize programs and grants to provide assistance • Follows NDRF principles • Provides an opportunity to pre-plan funding alternatives
