  6. PROJECT INFORMATION Project Name – Development of Sports Ground at D.V.P. Site - Existing location Proposers - The Principal & Past Pupils of D.V.P. Contact Person/s – The Principal – Chairman Project development. Contractors - Sri Lanka Air Force. - M/S Jinasena Ltd.

  7. PROJECT INFORMATION (cont.) Beneficiaries - Students of DVP - Schools & Clubs in the Western Province. Area - Sq/Mtrs 6200 Work Scoop - Irrigation & Grass Field. Estimated Cost - Rs.20,000,000.00

BACKGROUND • DVP established in 1940,is the largest CO-ED Institution in Sri Lanka. • Most populated suburb school which has produced Thousands of good citizens. • A Primeminister, Service Commanders, Professionals & top level Government /Private sector officers. • In the field of sports DVP has won many championships & produced many sportsmen/women to the Nation.

REQUREMENT -- BETTER GROUND FACILITIES • DVP ground was opened for sports in 1951 & it provides facilities for Cricket, Soccer, Rugby, Athletics, Base Ball, Hand Ball & Throw Ball etc. • The Gvt. Has decided to make sports a compulsory subject. Important element for student growth. • DVP participate U/19,17,15& 13 ( 3 teams ) and provide facilities for cricket matches conducted by SLC.

  10. Soccer, Rugger, Athletics performance cannot be further improved due to bad ground condition. • Sports injuries due to bad surface. • Good source of income to support sports in the school. • Only ground with turf wicket & 400 mtr track up to Sooriyawewa along side the High Level Rd.

PROJECT PROPOSAL • Requirement was discussed at a cricket development meeting. • A survey was carried out to find out suitable sources. • Sri Lanka Air Force sports ground development team found to be capable of carrying out the surface development. • M/S Jinasena Ltd selected to provide the Irrigation, watering & drainage system.

  12. PAST PERFORMANCE SLAF – • Race Course Rugby complex, Biyagama Cricket Stadium, St.Anns College, St.Peters College, Isipathana College, Ananda, Royal N’Eliya, Nawalapitiya Rugby grounds. M/S Jinasena Ltd. – • SSC,NCC,Pallekelle,Kettarama,P.Sara,CCC,Moors,Ananda,Nalanda,Thurstan & more than 10 schools.

  21. DETAILS – progress.. • Grade I project ; completed --- 2 ML. Collected from year one admission on voluntary basis. • PPA ; Rs.5 ML. Collection of Rs. 1,000,000.00 from all sub groups.( Profits from this year projects ) • ODSC + DMV ;Rs.5 ML. 3000 Nos Rs.1000.00 (100.00 * 10) cards to be distributed among students/Friends. Selling of 2 Sq/Mt. blocks @ the rate of Rs.5000.00 • Special Projects DMV ;Rs.4 ML. Profits from Annual POLA project & DMV walk.
