The 1839 Treaty of London • This treaty concerned the little country of Belgium. The treaty was signed by Britain, Germany, France and many others. • The countries agreed not to attack Belgium and to protect her from attack from others. She was to remain neutral. • Looking at the map on the next slide – why do you think Britain was concerned about the security of Belgium?
Turn to your map of Europe in 1914. • Colour the members of the Triple Entente in one colour, and the members of the Triple Alliance in another. • Create a key in your jotter labelling each one along with the date the alliance was formed.
