Study Population • Children who turned two years of age during 2006 • Enrolled in HealthWave 19, HealthWave 21 or HealthConnect Kansas • Continuously enrolled 12 months prior to 2nd birthday • 6,612 members; 2,906 HealthWave 19; 773 HealthWave 21; and 2,933 HCK
Data Collection • Hybrid methodology • Hybrid sample • 1,233 members; 411 from each program • Administrative data - claims, encounters and Kansas Immunization Registry (KSWebIZ) • Medical record review - members not up-to-date (721 of 1233) • Assigned provider and health department in the member’s county
Calculation of Up-To-Date Rates • Individual antigens • Combination 2 Four diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTaP/DT); three Polio (IPV); one measles, mumps and rubella (MMR); three haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib); three hepatitis B (HepB); and one chicken pox (VZV) • Combination 3 Children who received all of the vaccines listed in Combo. 2 and four pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCV)

SRS Regions with Statistically Significant Differences for Combination 2 Rates
Comparison of Combination 2 Rates by Race A chi-square test showed there was a statistically significant difference (p=0.0094) among the four race categories (black, white, Hispanic and other).
Unimmunized/Underimmunized Children • 6.4% of the children in the hybrid sample (79 of 1,233) were underimmunized in the administrative data, and a medical record was not located, or the received chart did not have an immunization history • 35 of the children only received birth HepB (KSWebIZ) • 1.5% of the children (19 of 1,233) were unimmunized; no vaccine history was found from any data source • Information from providers indicated that two of the 19 children had not received vaccines due to parental refusal
