  4. Journal 35 (12) What is the definition of a tragedy? Describe any tragedies you have read or watched. What made them tragedies?

  5. Tragedy A play, novel, or other narrative depicting serious and important events, in which the main character comes to an unhappy end. Main Character -usually dignified, courageous, and high ranking -downfall is usually caused by a tragic flaw (an error in judgment or a character weakness) -sometimes the fall is beyond his/her control -wins some kind of self-knowledge and wisdom, but also suffers defeat.
