  1. War on Waste

  2. What War on Waste is all about • It is a campaign that is run by a group of students. • Our original primary aim was to reduce the energy consumption at All Saints, increase recycling levels and most importantly raise awareness of the issue of Climate Change and what methods can be used to try and slow down or limit the effects.

  3. War on Waste • We meet on a monthly basis. • In the meetings we discuss the progress that is being made and how we can take the campaign further. • We have a mission statement & Eco Code within school.

  4. Here are some of the things we have achieved … • Weymouth & Portland Primary School Road Show • Regular assemblies to All Saints Students • Dedicated Notice board that is regularly updated • Our own “Savers vs Wasters DVD” • “CO2 Pumping Out” CD • Appeared in the Daily Echo & Wessex FM

  5. Here are some of the things we have achieved … • Making the Gibraltar Trip Carbon Neutral • Friends of the Earth “Shout About It” Magazine Article • Reduction of All saints energy consumption • The RED DOT!

  6. Great successes … • In the past year we have been awarded 2 national awards. • We are the first secondary school in Dorset to have been awarded the Silver “Eco Schools” award. • We have been awarded Level 1 Sustainable Schools Status.

  7. Our most recent achievement… • War on Waste set a target to reduce All Saints energy consumption by 10% before 2010 • We are proud to say that in the last 12 months we have already reduced our energy consumption by 9% • We will continue our great efforts and hope to reduce it further than our predicted target
