Outline • Project overview • Block diagram • Design challenges • Project demonstration • Individual contributions • Questions / discussion
Project Overview • An ordering system where the user will be able to order and pay for the food from the comfort of the table • Consists of a touch screen monitor which displays the menu and allows the user to select the items • The order sent through a wireless interface is received by the host computer • The bill can be paid at the table using an RFID gift card
Design Challenges • Adding the battery circuit • Huge changes in schematic • Completely new PCB layout • Building and testing the charger circuit • An error in initial circuit • Mismatch of PCB footprint • Testing the functionality of the Battery monitoring circuit • I2C interface
Design Challenges Carefully designing and populating the PCB to avoid damage Many expensive parts Damaged the wireless transceiver twice PCB Layout Learn Layout Plus Revise the layout twice
Project Demonstration • An ability to display information (menus, items ordered, etc.) on an LCD. • An ability to enter choices and select functions via touch screen entry. • An ability to read an RFID card and use decoded user ID to look up personal account information. • An ability to transmit menu choices over a wireless interface • An ability to charge the batteries using a charger circuit.
