  2. 2010 Bid Template OBJECTIVES • Clarify scale of funding sought by NSOs • Inform moderation process to prioritise funding allocations • Identify those bids with greatest potential to meet government objectives • sustained success by sports with cultural significance

  3. 2010 Bid Template CONTENT • High level, not micro detail, addressing: • Brief descriptor of key areas for investment of additional funding – prioritised and costed • Impact of those investments – key results expected • Must address short term (Eg London for Olympic sports) and longer term impacts • Budget showing key areas of expenditure and priority order

  4. 2010 Bid Template PROCESS • Bid Template due to ASC by 12 July • w-i-p ..... engage your Sports Consultant early and often • Consult with system partners as required • full engagement expected in final plan

  5. 2010 Planning Expectations OBJECTIVES • Short and long term objectives and strategies are clearly identified • Resources allocated appropriately to ensure support for Potential International through to World Class Athletes • Roles and accountabilities of system partners clearly identified

  6. 2010 Planning Expectations CONTENT • Refer handout “Guidelines for NSO High Performance Plans” • Defined objectives and targets • key measures of success • Preamble: • Situation assessment (what is) • Opportunity assessment (what ought to be) • Gap analysis • Prioritisation of the steps to achieve objectives

  8. 2010 Planning Expectations Accountability and Engagement • Clear measurable KPIs throughout the life of the plan • Engagement of ASC and system partners throughout the development of the plan • w-i-p ..... engage your Sports Consultant early and often • Final approval by ASC to confirm notional funding advice

  9. 2010 Planning Expectations KPIs - Process and Outcome measures • Competition related • e.g. targets for senior and development athletes at Bench Mark Events (such as # of medals, overall medal count, # of finalists, world rankings; sustainability and consistency of results), and • Process related • e.g. numbers and/or quality of athletes/coaches in the development pathway; Daily Training Environment requirements/targets; establishment of athlete tracking/injury management systems;

  10. 2010 Planning Expectations PROCESS • Final plan to be approved by ASC by 30 September 2010 • New funding to be available for release from 1 October 2010 (subject to final approval)
