Toys to promote play: Gross motor Ages 0-6 Years There are many toys designed to promote play for your little one, but here are some ideas that we, as physical therapists, use daily when working with your kids. Ages 0-6 months: Main Idea- Toys that are visually and audibly attractive or toys that promote small movements! Toys- Noise makers, light up toys, musical toys, mirrors, and playmats. Ages 6-12 months: and walking. Main Idea- Toys that encourage movement such as rolling, trunk rotation, crawling, creeping, Toys: Push/ pull toys, balls, pretend play toys, stacking rings, Balls. Ages 1-3 Years: Main Idea: Toys that promote pretend play and big movements such as walking/ stairs. Push Toys, Playdough, Kinetic Sand, Stacking toys. Toys: Learning walkers, Shopping carts, Pretend food/ baby dolls, Balance Bikes, Books, Puzzles, Ages 3-6 Years: Main Ideas: Toys that allow your child to be involved in an activity alone or with friends. with training wheels, Scooters.
