  3. History • Campaign for Grade Level Reading - All-American City contest that focused on grade-level reading, specifically reading on grade-level by grade 3. • A broad group of community stakeholders came together to provide input and to help design the grant.

School Readiness Focus • Develop an ongoing community awareness campaign to foster collaboration, coordination, and public engagement with all stakeholders • Create a comprehensive plan for systematic volunteer recruitment, placement, and training to increase numbers of children read to daily • Increase parental education around literacy, awareness and access to resources including ongoing support in our top seven languages • Work with the school system and community partners to provide books and other literacy opportunities to low-income preschoolers and their families
