  2. Physical Change A Change in a substance that does not change its identity • Change in state (Solid Liquid Gas) • Crush, tear, chop shred, liquefy • Malleable- able to be shaped or formed

  3. Chemical Change/Chemical Reaction A change in which one or more substances combine or break away to form a new substance. New properties are formed. • Combustion • Oxidation • Tarnishing • a Precipitate forming • Temp change • Color Change • Production of a gas (bubbles)

  4. Physical Properties A characteristic of a physical property that can be observed without changing into another substance • Melting point/Boiling Point • Density • Luster (reflective property) • Freezing point • Solubility

  5. Chemical Properties A characteristic of a pure substance that describes its ability to change into a different substance. The substances ability to react to other substances • Combustion (ability to burn) • Baking (ability to produce gas) • Oxidation (ability to rust)
