Don’t fight fire with fire • CFS recognises that, Councils role in supporting Emergency Services during bushfires is an essential part of a holistic approach to bushfire management • A key principle of this community response is that it be done with safety as number one priority Slide 2
CFS is committed to working with Local Government and Council staff to ensure that safety is at the front of everyone’s mind at fires • Key focus of this collaborative program is recognising Councils undertake: • “ordinary operations in extraordinary situations”
Guideline Principles: • Promote the safe, efficient, effective and cooperative support of Councils to CFS to control a fire in the shortest possible time • Give Councils, information so that they can make informed decisions about their actions and decisions
These guidelines are in support of local initiatives or arrangements and provide a basis for establishing and maintaining a consistent approach • Councils are encouraged to speak to their local CFS about these guidelines
