Ⅰ. Statistics of KOR New Cooperators Promised in 2013
Ⅱ. Current Situation in KOR 1.Formation ◦ Initial Formation: Opening of Formation School (Seoul & Gwangju areas). - From 2012 to prepare 200th anniversary of the Birth of Don Bosco. - Three-years course for the Life of Don Bosco, Preventive System, and Salesian Spirit. 8 themes are lectured and discussed in each year. - The course will be a mandatory requirement for making Promise. ◦ Ongoing Formation -Monthly meeting in each Center. Sharing daily life as a cooperator; reflection-discernment-planning. Readings of Salesian literatures; “Complete Memoirs of the Oratory” “Don Bosco: History and Spirit” 2013 Formation School at Gwangju
Ⅱ. Current Situation in KOR ◦ Other Formation activities - Lent retreat : The 1st week of Lent in each area. - Advent retreat : The 1st week of Advent in Daejon. All cooperators get together from all areas to Daejon, the geographical center of South Korea. New cooperators make Promise during Mass. - Yearly consolidation program organized by Provincial Council. - Workshop for councilors of local centers. - Special formation day for new cooperators before Promise. 2014 Lent retreat in Seoul
Ⅱ. Current Situation in KOR 2. Apostolic Works ◦ Visiting a reformatory school to accompany young peoples, in collaboration with Salesian Fr. and Br. - Become their parents and friends. ◦ Assisting and accompanying young peoples in the group homes of Salesian Houses (House of Nanum, Nazareth House) - Assist their studies and homework as parents. - Accompany a picnic and other outdoor activities. - Giving Good Night Talk. ◦ Educating students in Don Bosco’s way. - Practicing Preventive System (cooperators working in schools).
Ⅱ. Current Situation in KOR ◦ Teaching and giving financial aids to the students in Don Bosco Technical Schools. - Teaching basic and essential knowledge for becoming a good and honest citizen. - Provide financial aids to encourage good habits and studies. ◦ Assisting and taking care of children in Multicultural Center. - Assist settlement of immigrants. ◦ Assisting Don Bosco basketball tournament. - Prepare food for young students on the day of tournament. ◦ Involvement in the catechism and pastoral activities in parish and dioceses.
Ⅱ. Current Situation in KOR 3. Animation of the Local Centers ◦ Monthly meeting for formation and apostolic activities . - Sharing cooperators’ apostolic lives with the members. - Promote apostolic activities as an Association. ◦ Occasional outdoor activities and pilgrimages. ◦ Family meetings on a special day to reinforce the sense of belonging and unity. - The Assumption, Christmas Day. ◦ Annual retreats: Lent & Advent ◦ Participation in important events of Salesian Family Groups
4.Economic Solidarity & Financial Reporting ◦ Financial (due) contribution of members to the Local Centers - Support initiatives of the Local Centers. - Most of Centers keep the accounting books up-to-date ◦ Economic solidarity of Local Centers to Province. - Due contribution to Province: 300,000Won(~$270)/yr ◦ Financial reporting - Presenting the annual “Statement of Cash Flow” of the Local Centers to the Provincial Council is not yet settled. - Provincial Council presents annual Budget and Balance every year. ◦ Financial Solidarity to World Council - Will submit $1,000 per year.
5.Relationship with the Salesian Family ◦ Participation in the Spiritual Day of Salesian Family. - Promote the sense of belonging and strong bond to Salesian Family - Share co-responsibility to the Salesian Mission. ◦ Participation in the Council of Salesian Family and Advisory Committee. - Share the apostolic lives of different groups in Salesian Family. ◦ Participation in important events of Salesian Family Groups
6.Communication ◦ Quarterlyissuing of Newsletter of Salesian Cooperators - On-line & off-line issues (not so smooth) ◦ Running a Cooperator’s website - Home Page : http://www.cooperators.com - Provincial notices, Open blackboard for communication - Provide formation resources and photographs of various activities of the Local Centers. ◦ Directoryof Cooperators (publish every 3 years) ◦Participating in the Editorial meeting for the Bulletin of Salesian Family.
Ⅲ. Vision for the Province 1.Next three years ◦ Settlement of the Formation School. - Improve the Formation Program. - Publish a Handbook for Initial Formation. - Continue to learn about DB (Method, spirituality) and make him known. ◦ Study the Project of Apostolic Life (PAL) -Translation of the PAL into Korean and Distribution to all members (translation is just finished and published a beta-version for circulation to check the translation errors). - Know the content of PAL and interiorize its values. ◦Continue the close relationship with SDB/FMA - Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Birth of Don Bosco. - Promote apostolate, common projects, spirituality days. Ⅲ. Vision for the Province 2.Next six years ◦ Continue to make Don Bosco known. ◦ Develop our involvement with the young people at risk. ◦ Continue our presence among no religious young.
