The Gospel way (grace) • ‘a.’ and ‘b.’ sub-sets of people on the road to hell. • Jesus contrasts the religious with the righteous. He condemns the Pharisees as hypocrites (Matt 16:6, Matt 23, Luke 28:9-14, etc.).

  4. Does Jesus know you Warnings about false prophets • Wolves in sheep clothes (v. 15). • Look at long-term fruit (vv. 16–20). • ‘The fruit is not for the tree’ • Question is not ‘do I know Jesus?’ but ‘does Jesus know me?’ • Obedience is key (v. 21. cf. John 15:14, Luke 6:46)

  5. Does Jesus know you Building on the Right Foundations • Note the ‘therefore’ of vs 24. • What are you building your life on? (vv 24-29). • Contrasts not those who hear and don’t, but those who hear and either obey or not. • Christ is the foundation (1 Cor 2:11).

  7. Does Jesus know you 2. Submit • No secular/sacred divide – all is God’s. • Let God invade our lives (Romans 14:7,8) • ‘God loveth adverbs’ (Puritan saying). • All for Him, all through Him. • ‘A long obedience in the same direction’ (Nietzsche).
