Scalpel Purpose: Used to make incisions Safety: Cut with blade pointed down Safety: Cut towards yourself
Scissors Purpose: Cut through flesh and bone Safety: They are much sharper than regular scissors
Probes & Picks Purpose: Manipulate or hold small tissues Safety: End point is sharp
Pins Purpose: Hold skin and other tissues down to the pan and out of the way Safety: End points are sharp
All tools remain in the large tray at all times • Cut towards your body • Use the tools to point to the specimen, not your fingers • Be careful not to wave the tools in your hands • Use the tools only for the designated purposes of dissection • Improper clean up results in a lack of privileges Rules to Follow
