A Brief on SUSTAIN and Project for Land Use Stabilization (PLUS) Kilombero Landscape Land Use Dialogue Fadhili M. Njilima AWF Community Development Officer
Why IKLM - MSP • A series of interlinked sectors operate in this landscape, ranging from wildlife, agriculture, livestock, energy, fishery, business, and transportation. Farm expansion by smallholder farmers and agro–pastoralists, coupled with increased grazing, is threatening the landscape’s wildlife and their habitats. With conflicting interests between wildlife protection and socio–economic production, tensions among stakeholders operating in the landscape have been difficult to manage. • To address competing and conflicting stakeholder interests, a need for an Integrated Landscape approach arose during a SUSTAIN Program supported stakeholder workshop held in March 2018 in Ifakara
